What the Grant Covers
The LFHP grant pays up to $10,000 toward the cost of replacing your roof to IBHS FORTIFIED standards. This is not a loan. You do not pay it back. The state of Louisiana funds it specifically to help homeowners harden their roofs against hurricane-force winds and water intrusion before storm season intensifies.
To use the grant, you must work with an approved FORTIFIED contractor. The contractor completes the installation, submits the IBHS certification documentation, and the grant funds are applied directly to your project.

The Insurance Savings That Come With a FORTIFIED Roof
This is the part most homeowners do not find out until after the job is done, and it is the reason getting this done now matters.
Under Louisiana Regulation 136, your insurer is now required to offer you a discount on your homeowner's premium for having a FORTIFIED-designated roof. Depending on your carrier and location, that discount can range from 16% to over 40%.
If your current premium is $3,500 per year and you qualify for a 35% discount, that is $1,225 back in your pocket every year. Over 10 years: more than $12,000 in savings, on top of the $10,000 grant.

What if my roof costs more than $10,000?
The grant covers up to $10,000. Anything above that is your responsibility. We give you the full number at your free assessment, no surprises.
What if I was not selected this round?
The LFHP runs multiple cycles. If you were not selected, apply again in the next lottery.
