Louisiana FORTIFIED Roof Insurance Savings Guide
A FORTIFIED roof is one of the few upgrades that pays you back every year through lower insurance. This guide explains how the savings work in Louisiana and how to make sure you actually get them. Acadiana Roof Restoration is an IBHS FORTIFIED certified contractor, veteran-owned and BBB A+ rated.
The Mandatory Discount: Regulation 136
Under Louisiana Regulation 136, insurers must apply a wind and hail premium discount to a FORTIFIED roof. In South Louisiana that is up to 29% for a base FORTIFIED Roof designation, up to 43% for FORTIFIED Silver, and up to 49% for FORTIFIED Gold. This is not optional for the insurer once your roof is certified.
The Voluntary Carrier Discounts
On top of the mandatory discount, many carriers offer their own voluntary reductions: up to 40% with select carriers including Liberty Mutual and Safeco, up to 37% with USAA, up to 35% with State Farm, and up to 30% with Allstate. These vary by insurer, so confirm the figure with your carrier.
How to Claim It
The savings do not happen automatically. After your roof is built and certified to the FORTIFIED standard, you submit the IBHS FORTIFIED certificate to your insurer. Acadiana Roof Restoration provides that certificate and the supporting documentation and walks you through the submission so the discount is applied correctly.
